Hawaii Day 4 – Pearl Harbor

Friday, May 7th, 2010

No early morning swim this morning, how disappointing. We were out late at the wedding reception and Jeremy left early to go to Pearl Habor. We didn’t think it was something Ella could appreciate quite yet and I had been to Pearl Harbor on our honeymoon so I stayed at the house with the girls.

Hawaii Day 3 – Dole Plantation

Thursday, May 6th, 2010

Wednesday morning we went swimming in the ocean again as soon as the sun came up, what a great way to start the day! Ella loves the water and playing in the sand. After cleaning up Jeremy, Sarah, Ella and Abby went to Dole Plantatin. Here is Abby on the way there

We took a train ride and learned all about pineapples and saw pineapple and other crops. I never knew how pineapples grow on top of the plants. Or that there were so many different kinds of pineapples.

After riding the train we walked around the display gardens and tried a pineapple whip, which is like soft serve pineapple ice cream. I wasn’t sure what to expect but it was pretty good.

Hawaii Day 2 – Diamond Head

Tuesday, May 4th, 2010

We decided to hike to the top of Diamond Head today. We decided to leave Abby and Ella with Grandma Dot. It was a good decision because there were over 200 stairs, an uneven path and it was hot! But the view was worth the work. Here are some pictures from the top…

Hawaii Day 2

Tuesday, May 4th, 2010

Up at 5:00 AM, which sounds earlier than it feels since we’re 6 hours behind New York time, so we went down to the beach to get some pictures of the sunrise over the Pacific and the surrounding area.

I took this one of some palm trees just off the beach. The moon is above:

Each morning now we all go down to the beach to play in the sand (Ella) or swim in the ocean (Mommy and Daddy) while grandma holds Abby. Ella loves the water too but doesn’t like the salty taste.

Heading to diamond head in a bit. We’ll probably update again later.

Hawaii Day 1

Tuesday, May 4th, 2010

Our first full day in Hawaii started early – 4:30. Once it was light outside we got dressed and went out to see the beach.

We then managed to lock ourselves out of our studio apartment. We had to remove a window and send Ella in to let us in. Ella saved the day!

After a late morning nap we went to go see Turtles on the North Shore . . .
