Ahhh, our first “Don’t make me pull this car over” threat and follow through. Ella decided it would be fun to paint her car seat using the straw from her melted slushie. I asked her to stop making a mess and she did it again so I told her to give me the cup. She put the cup over her head and laughed at me. So Daddy told her to give mommy the cup or he would pull the car over. She didn’t give me the cup, Jeremy pulled over, I got out, opened Ella’s door, grabbed the cup, got back in the car, Ella started to cry and we were on our way.

We have now had 5 days with no accidents – go Ella! It was a little rough the first few days since we went cold turkey after getting back from Hawaii (she does get to wear a pullup at night) but she did it. Now if she would just try to go before we left to go places. She’ll tell me she doesn’t have to go and then the minute we get somewhere we have to find a bathroom. She did the crotch-holding potty dance into Grammie’s house today and Grammie only lives 10 minutes away.

“I’m not going to yell at you about the juice mom, but don’t fill it all the way up with water” – said to mommy while she was getting her some juice.

“Sorry, I can’t watch Abby today. I’ve got too much work to do” – said on Saturday morning. We’re not what work she had to do or who asked her to watch her sister.

“Daddy it’s undignified to drive on the grass” – said while driving on the lawn to drop off rubber mulch bags in the back yard. (see picture below, we got2/3 of it from Jeremy’s coworker and than bought the rest to fill it in.).

Yesterday Ella, Abby and I went to the Lilac festival where we looked at lilacs, had junk food for lunch, and wandered around. Here are the girls next to one of the only lilac trees that still had blooms, guess the festival should have been a weekend or two earlier.


They had some rides for little kids and Ella went on her first solo merry-go-round ride, and also a miniature ferris wheel and scrambler rides.

Abby is now 3 months old, how time flies! No doctor’s appointment this month. I’m sure she is relieaved not to get shots. She is about 16 pounds now. Still a chunker as you can see from the pictures below. She is really starting to interact with people now. She loves the fish on swing mobile and likes to grab the linking rings that hang from the toy bar in her chair. I’ll have to take a video of her playing with the rings since she really gets into it now.

So I finally got around to getting the last of the pictures off the camera. This is why I did them while on vacation since there was internet access at the house. Otherwise it would be days/weeks before I got them off the camera at home.

Saturday we met up with Barry, a friend of Dad and Dot’s who happened to be in Hawaii to attend a ceremony for his son in the military. His son’s family was nice enough to let us ship car seats to them so we wouldn’t have to worry about bringing ours on the airplane. Barry let us hang out in his hotel so we wouldn’t have to be out in the hot sun all day. We wondered around Waikiki, saw the penguins at the Hilton, and bought last minute souvenirs. Here are some pictures as we waited to eat lunch and enjoy our mango smooties.

One last swim in the ocean this morning and now we are packing up to leave the rental house. Uncle Kurt, Aunts Kris and Sue, and Dot’s friends Laurie and Julie have already left. Our flight insn’t until 10 tonight so we will wander around waikiki this afternoon and get some dinner before heading to the airport. More pictures and some videos that we took will be uploaded early this week once we are home.

We took Ella to Sea Life today. It is the park where they filmed 50 First Dates. They had excellent shows, we saw a sea lion/penguin (they live other places than the antartic) and a dolphin show. They also had a wolphin which is a mix of a false killer whale and a dolphin.

Ella got to touch a baby turtle and feed some greens to other turtles.

Another early morning swim. This one was cut short by some rain but it cleared off in 20 minutes or so.
