Ella had her 3 year checkup on Friday. She was very concerned on the way there if she would get “a doctor” or not. After asking her some questions I was able to figure out she was talking about getting a shot. I explained that a doctor was a person and I wasn’t sure if she would need a shot or not. I knew there weren’t any regularly scheduled shots for 3 year olds but I also knew she needed an H1N1 booster so I didn’t want to make any promises I couldn’t keep. At the appointment she was very quiet and didn’t want to talk to her doctor. As it turns out since she was 3 she could get the nasal version of the H1N1 vaccine and wouldn’t need a shot. After hearing the no shot news Ella did warm up to the doctor and told her all about her horsey birthday party.
The doctor had no areas of concern for Ella, said she seemed to be developing well physically, mentally and socially. She said to keep offering vegetables and that we aren’t the only ones with a 3 year old who will eat fruit all day long and not want to touch anything that resembles a vegetable. Her advice for potty training since Ella does so well when SHE wants to is to just pick a date and say no more diapers during the day, only underwear, and just deal with a few days of accidents. But that we might want to wait until after things settle down with the new baby.
Ella’s 3 year stats:
Weight: 34 lbs (75th%)
Height: 37.5 in (60th%)
