Abby Update

Friday, February 12th, 2010

Abby is making great progress. She’s off the oxygen and has been feeding really well (much better than big sister did at this point, that’s for sure). Ella has gotten to visit with her little sister and thinks it’s, “silly,” that babies drink from mommy’s, “boobies.”

I’ve added more pictures to the Abby photo gallery.

Abigail Grace

Thursday, February 11th, 2010

Abigail Grace was born this morning at 10:49 AM. She only made it 36 weeks, 3 days, so she’s technically considered premature. Her lungs are a little underdeveloped, but she’s getting great care and is making really good progress. Otherwise she seems absolutely great. Oh, and she was 8 lbs 3 oz at birth…Ella was 8 lbs 4 oz when she was born, so Sarah is thinking that’s when her body decides the baby is done cooking!

Mom is doing great, the procedure went really smoothly and all went well.

3 Year Checkup

Sunday, February 7th, 2010

Ella had her 3 year checkup on Friday. She was very concerned on the way there if she would get “a doctor” or not. After asking her some questions I was able to figure out she was talking about getting a shot. I explained that a doctor was a person and I wasn’t sure if she would need a shot or not. I knew there weren’t any regularly scheduled shots for 3 year olds but I also knew she needed an H1N1 booster so I didn’t want to make any promises I couldn’t keep. At the appointment she was very quiet and didn’t want to talk to her doctor. As it turns out since she was 3 she could get the nasal version of the H1N1 vaccine and wouldn’t need a shot. After hearing the no shot news Ella did warm up to the doctor and told her all about her horsey birthday party.

The doctor had no areas of concern for Ella, said she seemed to be developing well physically, mentally and socially. She said to keep offering vegetables and that we aren’t the only ones with a 3 year old who will eat fruit all day long and not want to touch anything that resembles a vegetable. Her advice for potty training since Ella does so well when SHE wants to is to just pick a date and say no more diapers during the day, only underwear, and just deal with a few days of accidents. But that we might want to wait until after things settle down with the new baby.

Ella’s 3 year stats:
Weight: 34 lbs (75th%)
Height: 37.5 in (60th%)
